Once you’ve finished making art or music and your content is ready to deploy. You can publish your work with a smart contract that helps provide transparency to collectors or other end users. Once published, your collection will be accessible on the creator dashboard. You can publish your IP & submit the NFT smart contract for approval on Fractal Visions to be listed.
**The case for NFT-specific licenses** Many people buy NFTs to own an avatar, an artwork, or any number of other creative outputs — but the reality is they usually can’t be sure of what they’re getting. When you buy an NFT today, you’re usually purchasing a tokenID (stored on a blockchain), along with metadata that “points” or refers to some other content file (typically stored off-chain, though there are examples of fully on-chain artwork). This fact causes confusion regarding rights of NFT buyers in the vast majority of cases. US copyright laws do not automatically grant buyers of artwork (both traditional and digital works) the right to reproduce, adapt, or even publicly display the artwork. Without a license or assignment of the copyright from the NFT creator, the buyer cannot exercise any of the rights under copyright (such as reproduction, adaptation, and public display) except through copyright exceptions such as “fair use” which are narrow and uncertain. Licenses allow creators to grant holders additional rights, but to date, licenses aren’t applied consistently across projects. Many projects launch without licenses, or with custom licenses that create more ambiguity than they resolve. Licenses (and other documentation of what buyers are legally allowed to do with their NFTs) are often kept off-chain, where they could be changed in ways holders don’t expect. These issues are compounded by the fact that copyrights are notoriously difficult to transfer. Even a savvy buyer has no way to inspect an infinite bundle of rights and know which ones a previous owner may have already given away. Standardized NFT-specific licenses should ideally be tracked and enforced on the blockchain to provide more certainty for users. Better licensing frameworks have the potential to make high quality licenses more readily available, clear up ambiguity around ownership, and save creators some of the burden (and expense) of creating their own licensing regimes. The **NFT contract address** (e.g., a Manifold ERC-721, a thirdweb Drop, a custom FV contract) 2. The **token ID** of the specific piece sold 3. The **sale value** (the final price in the native currency or ERC-20 payment token) The engine responds with two arrays: a list of **recipient addresses** and the corresponding **amounts** each recipient should receive. Manifold collections have their royalty percentage and recipient read directly from the original contract, regardless of which chain the sale occurs on. 3. **Rarible and Foundation royalty patterns -** Older royalty standards introduced by Rarible and Foundation are also supported, providing broad backward compatibility across the NFT ecosystem. 4. **Fallback / no royalty** - If none of these interfaces are detected, the engine returns zero recipients and zero amounts. If the Royalty Engine returns a recipient and an amount, those funds are transferred before the seller receives anything. *** ### Importing Collections from Manifold and Other Platforms When an artist has an existing collection on Manifold (on Ethereum Mainnet or any Superchain network) and wants to list pieces on Fractal Visions, the royalty flow is automatic: * The artist grants the relevant Fractal Visions marketplace contract permission to transfer their NFTs (via standard ERC-721/1155 approval and, if required, `ASSET_ROLE` allowlisting). * When a listing is created, the NFT contract address and token ID are registered. * When a sale settles, the Royalty Engine queries the **original Manifold contract** for royalty info not any wrapper or intermediary. Because Manifold contracts implement both ERC-2981 and Manifold's own royalty interface, the engine finds the royalty configuration the artist set up in Manifold Studio and applies it directly. The artist does not need to re-enter royalty information anywhere in the Fractal Visions marketplace. Their royalty settings live in their original smart contract and are read trustlessly at the point of sale. The same applies to any other platform that deploys ERC-2981-compliant contracts thirdweb Drops, custom ERC-721 implementations, SuperRare, and so on. *** ### Permissions and Asset Allowlisting The marketplace uses two role-based access control mechanisms relevant to how external collections are onboarded: **`LISTER_ROLE`** controls who can create listings and auctions. When held by `address(0)`, the marketplace is open to any wallet. When specific addresses are added, only those wallets can list. **`ASSET_ROLE`** controls which NFT contracts are permitted for listing. When a Manifold or other third-party collection is granted this role, the marketplace signals that this contract is trusted for listings. The royalty lookup still runs against the original contract at point of sale regardless the role governs permission to list, not royalty configuration. * Ai Assisted It’s pretty easy to create a file like this with Claude, ChatGPT. ( You can feed your own names & descriptions into the prompt or ask for image recognition to create that info for you along with traits on Claude up to 20 images at a time.
